HONOR AWARD
DTR ASSOCIATES, INC.
https://www.riceslandscapes.com/
This project was tailored for a client that loves to entertain.  DTR’s job was to
make the pool space feel intimate yet functional, provide a wind break and
create human scale on this massive 45 acre estate. The drive entrance was
lined with Octohber Glory Maples to give the approach a simple elegance. The
custom gate was hand crafted by a blacksmith to be a one-of-a-kind piece.
Tumi umbrellas were selected to line the pool and give some relief from the sun
and to give the  area a resort like feel. An upright Hornbeam hedge creates the
framework for the entire pool space.

A family with three young children wanted a whole yard renovation of their
classic 1900’s home.  They requested a curvilinear pool, new front walks, new
patio, fire pit, and privacy plantings. The old vehicular turnaround was
removed, as it took up much of their living space.  Much of the old street brick
and sidewalk was reused to maintain the character of the property. Lovely
plantings grace the foundation and a large Norway Spruce provides privacy
from the neighbor’s home that towers next door. Plantings provide privacy and
screen views of the nearby houses. The clients chose a salt water pool that is
safe, economical and low maintenance.

THE PATTIE GROUP, INC.
http://www.pattiegroup.com/
The Pattie Group started at the street with this renovation and created a
welcoming entry for guests to approach by foot. They redesigned the entry
court with a cobblestone drop off, repaired the walk and fountain and added
a new stucco privacy wall. In back, new walls and sandstone pool patio
provide safety, beauty and multiple entertaining areas, while maintaining the
formal balance. A cozy private space just off the patio includes a firepit and is
surrounded by multi-seasonal plantings. The patio incorporates reused stone
and has excellent circulation.  A charcoal grill is hidden from view behind the
stone structure and plantings.

A sleek modern back yard pool was desired as well as a putting green,
entertaining space, fire pit,and storage shed. Custom quarried 3 foot by 3 foot
Pennsylvania bluestone decking and curbing were used around the new 20 x
40 foot pool with auto cover. Boulder outcroppings and steps lead to the fire pit
nestled in a wooded area.  The pool equipment is nicely concealed behind a
privacy fence that matches the color of the house.  Fine textured plants were
important to soften and contrast the hardscapes. This backyard is where all the
fun begins!

MOSCARINO OUTDOOR CREATIONS

The homeowner wanted all the bells and whistles a young family could ask for.
The project included a gunite pool and spa, pavilion with storage, fireplace
and pizza oven, water feature, firepit, a garden full of plants, lighting and
irrigation. The custom water feature was built using large scale stone for a more
realistic look and is surrounded by plants. Travertine decking and limestone
coping finish off the pool area. The pavilion includes recessed lighting, stone
veneer columns, a custom fireplace and pizza oven with travertine flooring. The
ambiance of this backyard comes to life with soft lighting and a roaring fire in
the fire pit.
